And SEO Dominance
This retailer came to us with a very common issue, chain stores were eating into his market share and he needed to improve his SEO to regain clients and continue to grow. This was no easy task. Not only is this brand facing challenges from regional chains & Walmart, but they also have to deal with competition from Amazon.
The solution was multi-fold, but one of the primary things that Lyft needed to accomplish for the client was to dominate the maps that show in the Google search results. We used to call the 3 pack, but now we just refer to it as GMB results. (GMB = Google My Business.)
To dominate the GMB results is no easy task, and to be honest it changes so fast and so often that we try to stick to our formula but the formula takes a lot of supporting SEO tasks and can’t stand alone as it did just five years ago. One of the many things we do to dominate the Google My Business listing is a very specific piece Off-Site SEO called citations. Citations are mentions of your business, sometimes with links to the website, on pages and directories, and business tracking sites.
A citation typically mentions Name, Address, and Phone (NAP) but not always. As per standard SEO procedure and SEO Dogma we like to get the NAP to be as consistent as possible across all citations. In this particular case, our objective was to increase the citations 300% while improving the content and the other SEO ranking factors. We also focused citations that allowed us to deep-link into the client’s product selection and not just the home page
We increased local web traffic to the client by 226% in 90 days. This is a long-standing Plano client and it gets harder and harder to keep increasing traffic, but our traffic in 2020 is on track to be double that of 2019.
